The charity motorcycle ride took place in the Hunter Region on Sunday to kick off Tourette Syndrome Awareness Week (May 7 to 14).
Trudy Whitcombe, who organised the ride with her husband Duncan, said it was a resounding success, with 83 riders taking part.
The ride raised $5744 for the Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia, to assist with running its annual camp for children and families affected by Tourette Syndrome – a neurological disorder that is characterised by involuntary movements and sounds called “tics”.
Bailey had the honour of riding as pillion passenger with celebrity ride leaders Tex O’Grady and his dog Bundy, for the first half of the ride (from the Lake Macquarie waterfront to Mulla Villa at Wollombi, where riders enjoyed a ‘Ticnic’ lunch).
The ride then continued on to Broke, Pokolbin, Lovedale, Kurri Kurri and Buchanan and finished at the Holmesville Hotel.
Mrs Whitcombe said the event received valuable support from local businesses to help make it the success that it was, and that they are now looking for sponsorship and raffle prizes for next year’s ride.
