Former Kiwi international and NRL star Tawera Nikau is special guest at Kurri Kurri Bulldogs sportsman's dinner on Friday night.

Nikau, the father of Bulldogs centre Tyme Dow-Nikau, played 19 internationals for New Zealand and was part of the Melbourne Storm’s 1999 premiership after switching from Cronulla Sharks in 1998.
He also had an extensive career in the UK playing with Castleford and Warrington Wolves.
In 2003, Nikau had his right leg amputated as the result of a motorcycle accident, but came back to sports taking part in boxing’s 2004 Yellow Ribbon Fight for Life, defeating Tea Ropati. He has also run marathons.
In 2004 and 2005 he coached the New Zealand Māori rugby league team.
Tickets are still available for the sportsman’s dinner at the Kurri Kurri Bowling Club from 6.30pm.
