Fourty-four Barossa wineries, as well as a number of local food producers and tourism operators, packed their bags and headed to Melbourne for the inaugural Barossa. Be Consumed. event hosted by Barossa Grape and Wine Association with Bottle Shop Concepts.
The sell-out, 1000-ticketed event at Melbourne’s Meat Market was an impressive example of Barossa businesses collaborating to promote the region as a whole, and was well received by punters.
Guests travelled from not only across Melbourne, but also from regional Victorian areas to sample some of what the Barossa has on offer – and they were pleased with what they found.
A kegel alley was set up for visitors to test their skills at the traditional Barossa sport, and Kapunda-born musician Louise Adams even called in to say hi.
“It is incredibly powerful when a region comes together in collaboration rather than competition, and then share the stories of the region’s wine, food, culture and of their neighbours,” Bottle Shop Concepts director Dan Sims said.
“It’ss what people are looking for; a connection to place and people.
“This is what helps cement a meaningful impression of a region and judging by the reaction of attendees on Saturday – job done.
“Bravo to all and for everyone rallying together. There should be more of it!”
