A “franchise” based competition was run of a Wednesday afternoon for three years between 2011-2013 with success, but the board decided that this time around they would revert to a club-based competition.
It will be run over four weeks, with the normal 40 over competition being reduced by a full round in lieu of this to cater for the newly-formed competition.
The competition has been split into two tiers, with tier one consisting of registered first and second grade players from Bellbird, Chelmsford Hotel, Greta/Branxton, Mulbring, Peden’s Hotel, Supporters Club and Wine Country.
Tier two will consist of registered third and fourth graders from Bellbird, Denman Hotel, Greta/Branxton, Mulbring, Peden’s Hotel, Supporters and Wine Country.
There will be two games each played of a Saturday, with the first game starting at 10am and the second game at 2pm.
There has been an hour allocated in between games for travel between grounds where necessary.
The competition will be played under the same rules as the “Big Bash” Competition, with the top two teams from each tier progressing through to the final on the afternoon of Saturday, January 27.
As was the case in the previously run competition, the East Cessnock Bowling Club have come back on board as major sponsor of the series, with prize money to be awarded to the winners of both tiers of the competition.
