Six community organisations and two school students were among the beneficiaries of Masonic Lodge Tomalpin’s annual charitable donations in 2017.

At its open meeting on December 18, the lodge presented a donation of $6000 to ClothesLine, a statewide charity that supports the work of Marli Accommodation Services in the Lower Hunter, including a new venture at the former Empire Tavern in Kurri Kurri.
The donation, which was the culmination of a project by Lower Hunter masonic lodges, was received by , ClothesLine CEO Steve Cowie.
Other beneficiaries included Weston Tidy Towns, Cessnock Volunteer Rescue Association, Kurri Kurri Scouts, Cessnock Girl Guides, and Samaritans Cessnock Emergency Care.
The lodge presented a senior student scholarship at Kurri Kurri High School and a citizenship prize at Weston Public School in 2017.
Zakk Cherry of Kurri Kurri High School was awarded the Grand Lodge Trustees’ Scholarship to assist with his Year 12 studies.
Zakk was congratulated by the Assistant Grand Master of NSW, Bill Driver, who had travelled from Sydney for the meeting at the Weston Masonic Centre.
“The lodge expresses its thanks to the local community for their support of fundraising projects throughout the year, without which we would be unable to make these donations,” Lodge Master, Worshipful Brother Mitchell Perrin said.
