‘Appleporch’ at 15 View Street was sold for $750,000 by Jurds Real Estate on November 10, but details of the sale weren’t made public until the week before Christmas.
It eclipsed the record price achieved by Baird Real Estate on November 27 by $50,000.
It was an extra-special sale for Jurds’ selling agent Cain Beckett, who was also the home owner.
Mr Beckett bought the property in 2013, drawn to its original features and uninterrupted views.
The home has since undergone an incredible transformation, with its renovation by Len Pro Building winning the Home of the Year award at the HIA-CSR Hunter Housing and Kitchen and Bathroom Awards in 2014.
Its Coastline pool won the Residential Fibreglass Pools – up to $40,000 category at the Swimming Pool and Spa Association (SPASA) Australia national awards last year.
With the local market in such a strong position, Mr Beckett decided it was time to sell.
“The residential market in Cessnock is hot – it is very strong,” Mr Beckett said.
And it’s the value for money that is drawing buyers to the area.
“You look at that house in other locations and it’s well over a million dollars,” Mr Beckett said.
“There are homes in Cessnock worth over a million, they just haven’t been offered yet.”
According to domain.com.au, the median price for a three-bedroom house in Cessnock is $326,000.
