Titled The Proposal, the exhibition is a mirror for self-reflection and individual expression, balancing physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs, branching into art therapy, mental health, architecture, spirituality, design and poetry.
Morrison graduated with a Master of Design Degree from the Whitehouse Institute of Design in 2016.
She has recently undertaken a series of community projects for beyondblue, raising awareness of depression and anxiety, propelled by her personal experience of addiction and the many loved ones it has consumed.
Morrison’s work addresses acceptance of the dark and light polarity of the self, mostly communicated through sculpture, 3D print, acrylic and glass.
“As a visionary artist I love the opportunity to portray a vast imagination for spiritual themes or art experiences that transcend away from the physical world,” she said.
“There is a uniqueness of beauty in communicating metaphors of coping mechanism through multidimensional designs and poetry that display symbols of homeostasis.
“My art shares interesting creations of spiritual creatures that signify light and darkness within the psyche that presents a form of sharpness.
“The metaphoric creatures resemble the golden ratio through the use of geometrical shapes in mapping my dream of transforming the current health system of today.
“My journey and experimentations through arts practice has inspired an educational healing tool toward my own self-expression as a mental health sufferer.”
The Proposal opened on Saturday and will continue over the next two weekends. The gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 4pm in the Wollombi Cultural Centre.
