Police said a number of males attended the home late on Tuesday afternoon. One of the males was armed with a baseball bat, which he used to strike the victim to the buttock area, causing a large amount of swelling and bruising.
The group left shortly after, but returned about five minutes later and jumped the rear fence of the victim’s property.
A male was armed with a metal bar that he used to smash a rear window, before he and another male entered the home through a rear door and demanded property.
The victim refused to allow them to take the property and the group left the premises, stealing property as they left.
Hunter Valley detectives are investigating the incident.
