A total fire ban was implemented in the Greater Hunter region on Wednesday, with the temperature predicted to reach 40 degrees in Cessnock.

The NSW Rural Fire Service’s Fires Near Me page reported a two-hectare fire on O’Connors Road, Nulkaba was under control at 1.30pm, and fires at Kitchener and Brunkerville were under control by 3pm.
A fire was reported to be under control on Coney Creek Lane, Quorrobolong at 3.55pm.
