The council has officially launched its new Business Investment Attraction Program, an initiative designed to highlight the unlocked potential of the Cessnock local government area for businesses looking to start up or relocate into the region.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent applauded the program, developed by Advance Cessnock City, as a fresh opportunity to showcase Cessnock and surrounds to domestic and international firms.
“Increasingly businesses are looking to take advantage of lifestyle, affordability and proximity to markets. Workers are more willing to relocate from Sydney and other large cities,” Cr Pynsent said.
“We are ready and waiting to show these prospective investors why Cessnock City should be their first choice.”
The program was launched on February 13, the week after a University of Sydney study revealed Cessnock was the closest place to the Sydney CBD that an enrolled nurse on $57,000 would be able to afford to buy a home.
Cr Pynsent said Cessnock is the perfect location for those considering making a change, with its proximity to Newcastle and Sydney, and affordable land and housing for growing business and residential demand.
“It is not just the lifestyle benefits we offer but the opportunity we have for business,” he said.
Council’s business investment attraction prospectus offers a range of information needed by interested parties.
It includes site selection information, location, economic development support services, research into sector by sector growth opportunities, commercial and industrial lands and an economic summary report.
“Everything a business owner needs to know about Cessnock and surrounds can be found in one simple, professional and educational prospectus,” Cr Pynsent said.
“Every inquiry received will be followed up.
“It is an exciting time to be living in Cessnock City, with connections to major cities and services increasing exponentially.
