The Shannon’s Show ‘n’ Shine is one of the highlights of the festival, which is in its 15th year.
This year’s show and shine is being coordinated by members of the Hunter-based All Shook Up Car Club.
Car club member Steve Richardson, who is on the Nostalgia Festival committee, said there is a lot to appreciate about the cars on show – even for people who don’t know a lot about cars.
“The ‘50s and ‘60s cars have nice lines, and are really well styled – a lot of modern cars have lost that style,” he said.
Mr Richardson said some car owners put some pretty intense preparation into getting their cars ready for the festival.
“The die-hard fanatics are known to jack up their cars, clean underneath, inside and out, and polish every last nut and bolt,” he said.
“Some amazing, high-quality cars show up at Kurri for judging.”
The Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival will run from March 23 to 25, with the show and shine taking place on the Saturday and Sunday.
Other highlights on the festival program include a retro high tea, the final of the Burlesque Idol Australia competition, rock ‘n’ roll dances, market stalls and best dressed competitions.
