Mike Flook, of Robinson Property, sold 315 Darby Street, Bar Beach for $2.2 million after some “bullish” bidding between two parties before the four-bedroom home was secured by a local family.
The sale was a residential sale record for Darby Street.
“We were always expecting around that $2 million mark,” Mr Flook said. “It got fairly bullish between the final two and I think it found it’s true level on the day.
“People might think that’s a lot of money for Darby Street, but it almost backed onto Bar Beach Avenue, so it’s the best part of Darby Street and a beautiful period home.”
Nearby, Andrew McGavin, of Dalton Partners, said the sale of 63 Patrick Street for $1.91 million under the hammer last Saturday “exceeded expectations”.
There were seven registered bidders, who Mr McGavin said were “all engaged” and the home on a double block was eventually bought by a Lake Macquarie purchaser.
Tammy Hawkins, of McGrath Estate Agents Newcastle City, expected good interest for 24 Fernleigh Loop, Adamstown Heights which will auction at 12.45pm on Saturday.
The renovated four-bedroom, two-bathroom home is set on a 715 square metre block and has been marketed with a guide of $980,000.
“It’s got a lot to offer and is one of those homes that just ticks all of the boxes,” Ms Hawkins said.
“It has been renovated, has two living spaces, a good-sized, north-facing yard which leads to a park, an entertaining area overlooking a pool and it is light and airy throughout.
“It is the gateway to Glenrock and the Fernleigh Track and it’s only a few minutes to Westfield Kotara, Adamstown and back to Merewether. It is a nice little pocket.”
