The rally will be held at Parliament House, exactly one year out from the next State election.
“Summers in Cessnock are hot and we don't want them to become hotter as a result of human-induced climate change,” Cessnock-Kurri Greens spokesperson Janet Murray said.
“It is time to choose.
“Sydney has just recorded its hottest March day since 1940 and 70 houses have been lost in bushfires on the South Coast.
“All this after summer is supposed to have passed and we are in the autumn season.
“There is no doubt Australia and the world have to move away from fossil fuels, including coal and gas, and towards a renewable energy future.
“The benefit of that future will be cleaner air, cleaner water and more jobs.”
The local contingent will be carpooling from Cessnock on Saturday morning and catching the 9.33am train from Morisset to Sydney.
Anyone who would like to join the carpool can contact James Ryan on 0414 922 591.
