The choir meets most Tuesdays and performs to about 2000 people a year, at local aged care facilities and community events.
The choir is putting the final touches on its biggest show of the year, its Cessnock City Seniors Festival concert, which will be held at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday, April 4.
Pianist Michael Griggs said the concert has become a popular event on the Seniors Festival calendar.
“These annual concerts are consistently attracting wider and larger audiences and have become increasingly popular with hostels and nursing homes – but of course, are open to all – and free,” he said.
This year’s concert will include several all-time favourites, such as Irish ballads, songs from the beloved musical My Fair Lady, and a bit of John Denver thrown in for good measure.
The concert will run from 10.30am to 11.30am. Entry is free, and morning tea will be provided.
The venue has wheelchair access, accessible toilets and a hearing loop available.
Groups are welcome; and are encouraged to advise the venue in advance on 4993 4266.
The choir will also make an appearance at Marthaville Arts and Cultural Centre on Thursday, April 12.
