The 15-year-old from Aberdare won the junior section at the Australian Entertainment ‘Mo’ Awards on March 20.
Named after the great comedian Roy Rene’s character ‘Mo’ McCackie, the Mo Awards were first held in 1976 and are presented annually for excellence in live performance.
Finnian, who is in Year 11 at St Joseph’s Lochinvar, performs regularly at venues around the Hunter and in Tamworth.
He said it was unexpected and overwhelming to receive the prestigious award.
“I would like to congratulate all the other nominees and award winners on the night, and thank you to the committee and all those who voted for me,” he said.
In January this year, Finnian won the Battle of the Young Stars talent quest at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, earning a spot at the festival’s closing concert.
He also took out the inaugural Reg Lindsay Memorial Talent Quest at East Cessnock Bowling Club in 2017.
Check out Finnian’s performance at a recent local gig in the post below.
Well-known Hunter entertainer Wayne Rogers (a regular performer at East Cessnock Bowling Club) was also among the winners at the Mo Awards, taking home the trophy for best production show.
