Daniel Repacholi has claimed the gold medal in the 50-metre final at the Commonwealth Games.
Following his win, Repacholi told Channel 7 he was grateful for the support from the Australian crowd during the event.
"It was great they were behind me the whole way," he said, adding he didn't know if the same result would have occured if he was competing in another country.
While spectators were overwhelmingly supportive for Repacholi, it was especially amazing for him to win gold in front of his wife and two children.
This is the third Commonwealth Games gold medal for the 35-year-old from Nulkaba.

Daniel Repacholi has qualified for the men’s 50-metre air pistol final.
The 35-year-old from Nulkaba qualified in third place with a total score of 546.0.
He is set to compete in the final at 12pm AEST at Belmont Shooting Centre.

UPDATE: Monday, April 9, 12.30pm. Daniel Repacholi has narrowly missed out on a medal in the men’s 10-metre air pistol final.
Repacholi and fellow Aussie Kerry Bell were tied on 174.6 points at the start of the shoot-off for the medals.
Bell produced a 10.5 and 10.3 to Repacholi’s 9.3 and 9.5 to eliminate the 35-year-old from Nulkaba.
At his first Commonwealth Games, Bell finished with silver behind India’s Jitu Rai.
Repacholi has one more chance to add to his five Commonwealth Games medal with the Hunter shooter competing in the men’s 50-metre pistol on Wednesday.

Daniel Repacholi’s trophy cabinet boasts five medals from three Commonwealth Games.
The 35-year-old from Nulkaba will try to add two more to his medal tally at the Gold Coast games next week, before he retires from international competition.
Repacholi will contest the men’s 10-metre air pistol on April 9 and the men’s 50-metre pistol on April 11.
He won gold in the 10-metre and bronze at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games four years ago, following his bronze medal in the 10-metre at the Delhi games in 2010, and gold and bronze in pairs events in Melbourne in 2006.
After his selection in the Commonwealth Games team in February, Repacholi told Fairfax Media he was aiming for “double gold” at the Gold Coast.
The father-of-two intended to retire after his fourth Olympic Games in Rio in 2016, but after a disappointing competition, decided to postpone his retirement plans and finish his international career on home soil.
Repacholi was thrilled to be selected for his fourth Commonwealth Games, with several family members and friends making their way to the Gold Coast this week.
“It will be fantastic to shoot in front of my family and friends at another Commonwealth Games on Aussie soil,” he said.
“I’m really excited to be given another opportunity to represent our fantastic country.”
The Commonwealth Games get underway on Wednesday night, and with the pistol shooting competition starting a bit later in the program than usual, Repacholi will take part in his opening ceremony for the first time in any of his Olympic or Commonwealth Games appearances.
And at 202 centimetres tall, he might just stand out in the crowd.
He is also set to bring back his lucky rainbow socks for the competition, which he made famous at the Glasgow games.
The Cessnock Pistol Club member said he will continue to compete at domestic events, but at this stage, the Commonwealth Games will be his international swansong.
