Yvonne won the inaugural Rosemary Lyttle Trophy for best fruit pudding at the group final, hosted by the Cessnock CWA branch at Hotel Cessnock on March 14.
The trophy was donated by Rosemary’s family in memory of the long-serving Maitland City Evening branch member, who passed away in 2016.
Yvonne said she was shocked to win after seeing the entries that her pudding was up against, including a regular winner of that section.
Yvonne has been a member of the CWA since 1988, and this is the second time she has qualified for the state final of The Land Cookery Competition.
The state final will be held in conjunction with the CWA annual conference in Armidale in May, and Yvonne says she is sure to come up against some strong competition.
“The ladies from out west are hard to beat,” she said.
About 80 people attended the group final.
The Hunter River Group is the largest CWA group in NSW, with over 550 members across 24 branches, spreading as far as Belmont, Nelson Bay and Wingen-Parkville.
Each branch held its own round of the cookery competition (which is open to all NSW residents), and the winners progressed to the group level.
