Merv Walters and Beth Masterman shared the honours for Cessnock City’s Senior Citizen of the Year.
Chelsea-based former Cessnock Hornets captain Frank O’Brien sent home a signed Chelsea FC shirt for Hornets, after he couldn’t make it home for the club’s centenary the year before.
Also in sporting news, the Cessnock Rifle Club turned 100, and the Hunter Economic Zone had renewed its sponsorship of the Kurri Kurri Bulldogs for another year.
