The exhibition features works by students from Cessnock Regional Art Gallery’s children’s classes, which are led by Katrina Rose and Emmie Hallett.
“We are so proud of them, so we wanted to show the world what talented people we have in our art classes,” Ms Rose said.
“One of our goals at the gallery is to enhance the quality of life for children in our area.
“Art is in every part of our lives, and the more we know that, the more we become well-rounded people.”
Ms Hallett said the classes give children a space to be creative and to meet other creative kids.
Cameron and Corey, both aged nine, became friends through the art class and say they like to incorporate a story into their art works.
The students learn to use a variety of techniques, including water colour, acrylic paint, gold leaf, pencil, pastel and collage.
Laura Beth, 11, said she enjoyed experimenting with water colours to create a painting of flowers.
The exhibition opened on Friday in conjunction with the PCYC’s open day, and will continue until April 27.
The gallery holds children’s art classes on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Call 4991 6619 or email info@crag.net.au for inquiries.
