The Men In Black Tour, a tribute to Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash, will arrive at the CPAC on Friday, May 25.
Orbison and Cash were were friends, colleagues and collaborators – they were even next-door neighbours for 20 years.
They both launched their careers in the famous Sun Studios under Sam Phillips, and both endured enormous career success but personal tragedies in their lives.
Australian performers Dean Bourne and Chris Callaghan bring these iconic musicians back to the stage.
Bourne is Australia’s most loved and successful Roy Orbison tribute artist, having sold out shows all over Australia and the UK, and takes great pride in his performance.
“Roy was such a legend and an icon in the music industry, his voice was just so beautiful and very unique and so was his stage presence,” he said.
“Even 30 years after Roy’s passing, his popularity is as strong as ever.
“I feel so privileged, honoured and fortunate that I am able to bring so much joy and happiness to people's lives through Roy's music.
“I love looking at and listening to people's reactions after singing the first lyrics in Only the Lonely, it's a very special feeling.
“I feel very blessed and humbled and my tribute to Roy Orbison is something I take very seriously and treat with the utmost respect that Roy deserves. It's something I'll never take for granted.”
Country music singer Callaghan joins Bourne on this tour as he performs the hits of Johnny Cash.
From an early age, Callaghan has loved and been inspired by Cash to pursue his dream of becoming a country singer and entertainer, and has performed his songs for many years.
Bourne said audiences are responding really well to this year’s tour, and that he and Callaghan are looking forward to bringing it to Cessnock.
“I've had the pleasure of performing at the CPAC several times now and it's always been a memorable night,” he said.
“The people of Cessnock are so wonderful and supportive.”
The show will start at 8pm and tickets are available at cessnockperformingartscentre.com.au or by calling 4993 4266.
