Cessnock District Health Benefits Fund is now known as Hunter Health Insurance by CDH Benefits Fund.
The not-for-profit health fund has been operating since 1952.
General manager Jeff Walton said the health fund hopes to fill a gap for Hunter region residents who want a locally-based health insurance fund.
“As part of the plan to offer our services, we will be trading as Hunter Health Insurance to recognise the wider area influence,” Mr Walton said.
“The Cessnock District Health Benefits Fund continues as the principal organisation for members.
“By expanding our footprint across a wider Hunter, we'll provide residents with more options relating to their health insurance choices.
“While our new name starts a new era, we will continue to be a responsible health insurance fund, operating on a not-for-profit basis, being a Hunter business that respects the values of the communities its services, provides local employment, friendly service and value for money on products.”
The health fund was last year recognised with the Team of the Year award at the Cessnock Customer Service Awards.
