The Advertiser reported on the progress of an aircraft museum that was under construction at Cessnock Airport; a group of Mount View High School students and staff who attended Anzac Day services in Vietnam; and the last-ever Keans coach service to Sydney (which departed Cessnock on the morning of May 23, 2008).

Cessnock jockey Robert Thompson was closing in on the late Jack Thompson’s record of 3322 wins, with a victory in the Group 1 Australian Oaks at Randwick that month.
