As a co-educational Catholic college for students in Years 7 to 12, St Joseph’s strives to give their students a holistic education in a challenging and enriching environment, aimed at giving all students a strong foundation for their future.
At St Joseph’s each student is valued and encouraged to realise their potential through stimulating and enriching learning experiences.
The open afternoon will give families a chance to discover more about the many opportunities open to students through the college’s comprehensive curriculum.
Discover the student experience at St Joseph’s
Touring through the college’s English learning spaces, student’s literary skills will be on display as visitors get the chance to enjoy some debating and poetry sessions.
Visiting the PDHPE spaces, visitors will discover what St Joseph’s students have been learning this term through a series of active demonstrations.
St Joseph’s aims to showcase and nurture the individual talents of all students. Creative and Performing Arts students will be showcasing their musical and artistic performances throughout the afternoon, giving visitors a look at some of the creative pursuits students at St Joseph’s can choose to explore.
Taking a look inside the college’s science labs, visitors may learn a thing or two themselves as they watch students engage in a range of lab practicals and experiments.
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the wonderful Technology and VET facilities on offer, see students engaged in ‘hands on’ subjects and will be treated to an afternoon tea prepared by the college’s Food Technology students.
Student’s work samples will be on display in the HSIE, Maths and Religion learning spaces, with the college library and reception also open during the tour, where visitors will have the opportunity to view an original artwork designed by Sister Dorothy Woodward that encapsulates the spirit of St Joseph’s.
For families of students with additional needs, the Learning Support Centre will be open to give visitors a chance to talk with the college’s specialist staff and discuss the support options available to students with a disability or other additional needs.
The College Hall in MacKillop Place will also open for visitors to view displays about St Joseph’s heritage and traditions, ministry and uniform, and will give families the opportunity to meet with the members of the College Executive.
