There was cause for celebration at West Cessnock Medical Practice on Tuesday when the growing practice turned one year old.
Tuesday was a great day at West Cessnock with something on offer for everyone. A free sausage sizzle kept the crowd fed, while there were balloons for the kids and massages from Rosetta’s Mobile Massage for the those after a bit of relation. Musician Tim Usher, had the tunes flowing throughout the day, while there was an wealth of information sessions and articles to learn from.
On hand to assist were Breast Screen NSW, Cessnock Podiatry, Feast for Health dietitians, Cessnock and West End Pharmacy, NSW Health Pathology, Hunter-New England Aboriginal Health, Cessnock Healthy Lifestyle Network, Genesis Gym, CYCOS and many more.
Over the past twelve months, the team have been very busy building the practice with the number of clinical staff increasing to six doctors including Dr Ali Baktash MD FRACGP (Clinical Director) , Dr Zahra Yaraghi MD FRACGP (Associate Clinical Director), Dr Ehsan Mozafari, Dr Sajjad Arif, Dr Vijetha Vellarupalli and Dr Hoda Ghiassy.
There are also four nurses Catherine Waterton (Nurse Manager and Practice Co-ordinator), Tim Usher, Michelle Warrington and Kathleen Robinson, Dietitian Sarah Leoniuk from Feast for Health, Exercise Physiologist Rochelle Hardwick from Insight Exercise Physiology and Podiatrist Cameron Bell from Cessnock Podiatry.
This wealth of experienced staff are supported by four dedicated administrative staff including Nyree Walton (Office Manager), Elissa Payne, Jacqi Bell and Maree Dall, and Financial Manager James Yang.
The wide variety of services offered at West Cessnock Medical have expanded even further from family medicine, chronic disease management, Aboriginal health checks, women’s health care, antenatal care and immunisations among others
They now also include monthly hearing assessments, teleconferencing with mental health professionals and other specialists, along with co-located Pathology services provided by NSW Health Pathology, and many more services for local needs.
In April this year the West Cessnock Medical Practice achieved Quality Practice Accreditation (QPA) within nine months of opening which is a significant achievement for such a new practice. The QPA Certification Authority commended West Cessnock Medical Practice on their high level of achievement, commitment to practice development and quality of patient care.
Much has been achieved by the team at West Cessnock Medical Practice in such a short time, with many new and exciting announcements to follow in the coming months.
