This year, to eliminate the possibility of inclement weather putting a dampener on proceedings, the event will be held in the Great Barrel Room at Hope Estate.
Organiser Paul Chesher said the popular concert is a great way to introduce people into the world of opera.
“It will kind of be the greatest hits of opera,” he said. “There will be some true classics performed that everyone will know, so it’s a great way to be introduced to opera in a great setting along with what will be a celebration of great food and wine.”
One of the highlights of the event is sure to be one of Australia’s leading sopranos and grand-daughter of cricketing icon Sir Donald Bradman, Greta Bradman.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Greta on board this year, she truly is an amazing talent,” Mr Chesher said.
Aside from Greta Bradman, there will also be performances by mezzo soprano Milijana Nikolic, tenor Rosario La Spina and up-and-coming baritone Sam Roberts-Smith performing such well known songs as the Toreador’s Song from Carmen, and Nessun Dorma from Puccini’s Turandot.
The event will be MCd by former executive producer for Opera Australia and current director of the state Opera Of South Australia, Stuart Maunder
Mr Chesher said that Mr Maunder’s witty take on the world of opera would add an air of levity to proceedings.
“Stuart is extremely talented and very funny and his invaluable insights will be a great way to break down those barriers that exist around opera being a “stuffy” medium.”
Mr Chesher added the decision this year to hold the event indoors would add to the aural appeal of the concert.
“The last two years we’ve had rain, so that shouldn’t bother us this year,” he said.
“Also, the Great Barrel Room will provide fantastic acoustics and will be the perfect place to hear some world-class opera.
