Mr Orchard, through his not-for-profit men’s group The Kennel, has raised funds for numerous local charities and his latest venture will have a decidedly rock and roll tinge.
He has teamed up with Hotel Cessnock to run raffles and a charity auction during the venue’s upcoming Rock The Nock concert in December.
“The money I want to raise is going toward Picnic in the Park for the homeless and I’m also going to donate some money to the Samaritans Youth Refuge,” he said.
Mr Orchard added that a number of local businesses, including Hunter Readymix Concrete, Old Mates Bakery, Tim The Barber Shop, HCB Solar, The George Tavern, Cozzys Concrete, Cessnock Glass and Cessnock Customs have jumped on board to sponsor Callum’s efforts - but he is on the lookout for more sponsors and volunteers.
“To help these organisations, I’ve got to get people in to help me run these events. I’m looking for volunteers to come down and chip in on the day,” he said.
“Also, I’m looking for more sponsorship and funding to help run future events. The more we’re getting, the more we’re giving and the more volunteers I get, the more events I can run.”
Rock the Nock will be on at Hotel Cessnock on Saturday, December 15 from 1pm. For more information on the Kennel including how to volunteer or donate items for auctions and raffles, search The Kennel 2018 on Facebook.
