Officers from Hunter Valley Police District had attempted to stop a dark-coloured R1 Yamaha motocycle on Melbourne Street around 1.50pm, near the intersection of Duffie Drive.
The motorcycle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle turned left onto Duffie Drive and right on to Cessnock Road, heading towards Neath, reaching speeds of approximately 100km per hour, police said.
The pursuit was terminated a short time later due to the dangerous manner of riding.
No one was injured in the pursuit.
Police have urged anyone with dash cam footage of the incident or anyone who may have been on Cessnock Road and Maitland Road between Cessnock and Neath, between 1:30pm and 2pm on Monday, to contact Hunter Valley Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
