With Christmas being one of the hardest times of year for people and families doing it tough, Cessnock Salvation Army Captain Darryn Lloyd said that a small contribution can make a world of difference.
“For just $29, you can provide food on the table and a present under the Christmas tree to help give hope to someone in need this Christmas,” Captain Lloyd said.
Captain Lloyd said the Salvos will be working tirelessly in the lead-up to Christmas adding that support from the community was vital.
“At Christmas, the Salvos will serve over 100,000 meals, distribute more than 500,000 gifts and toys and support more than 70,000 families in need,” he said.
“But we can only do this with the support of the Australian public.”
Aside from the Christmas Appeal, the Salvos will also be hosting a special Christmas Day service from 10am at the Salvation Army Cessnock (14 Hall Street).
If you require assistance at Christmas with food and/or gifts phone the Salvation Army Cessnock on 4991 2063 before Tuesday 27 November.
Donations of new toys can be left at various outlets at Cessnock and Kurri including the St George Bank, Newcastle Permanent and the Salvos Family Store, 126 Vincent Street, Cessnock.
