The joyous occasion is set to take place at Cessnock Sportsground on Friday 7 December from 5.30pm.
Local country music sensation Tara Naysmith will be making a return to the popular event as MC.
To help the crowd find their voice, a 14-piece big band, Santa’s Little Helpers, comprised of musicians from throughout the Hunter region will be leading the assembled through a range of carols, under the guidance of musical director Greg Patterson.
But a carols event would not be complete without a visit from the jolly man himself and Cessnock’s celebration is certainly no different.
Santa will be in attendance, arriving by helicopter.
Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent, who was seen practicing some carols with CPAC staff at the sportsground this week, said the event was a great way for the community to embrace a sense of togetherness during the festive season.
“This event is for everyone in the community to enjoy and is an absolute favourite of mine,” Cr Pynsent said.
“The programming is brilliant and a visit from Santa is always such a fun time.
“It’s great to see so many people together, smiling and enjoying quality time at this very busy time of year.”
Aside from all of the caroling and festive fun, there will be an opportunity to pick up some last-minute Christmas gifts with a wide range of market stalls coordinated by Market2Markets, as well as gourmet food stalls.
It will also culminate in a dazzling fireworks display that is sure to fill everyone with the Christmas spirit.
The event is organised by Cessnock Council, in conjunction with the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) and sponsors the Newcastle Permanent, Rover Motors and Slattery’s Helicopters.
Carols In The Park is on Friday 7 December at Cessnock Sportsground.
Gates open at 5.30pm and the carol performances will commence at 6.45 – just bring a picnic rug and your best voice.
