Six stars of the Australian Women’s Rugby Sevens side will be at st Philips Christian College next Friday to witness the final round of the mixed teams Foxtel Rugby Sevens competition.
Stars Yasmin Meakes, Lauren Brown, Alicia Quirk, Charlotte Caslick, Dom du Toit and Demi Hayes will be making an appearance on the day.
Pokolbin Rugby Union Club president Jerome Scarborough said that the tournament was a highlight on the club’s calendar, and securing such national stars would mean an even bigger season-ending event.
“It’s a great coup for the Pokolbin Reds in attracting such experienced players who will be signing autographs and chatting about their experiences playing at the highest level of Women’s Rugby Sevens,” Mr Scarborough said.
Mr Scarborough added that punters won’t get the chance to see the women in action as they will have just returned from playing in the Sevens World Series in Dubai.
“The girls have kindly agreed to come to our tournament as a promotion for the Pokolbin club while visiting the Hunter Valley,” he said
“We’re hoping their attendance will help attract a big crowd to the Foxtel Touch 7s and create interest in those young boys and girls who would like to play rugby for Pokolbin.”
The Foxtel Touch 7s will be played in the grounds of St Philip’s Christian College, Nulkaba between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Friday, 7 December.
