This year, there will be a massive number of exciting events for senors and ‘not so seniors’ to enjoy. Whether you are an aspiring gardener, a savvy knitter or want to learn how to make a mouthwateringly delectable sponge cake, there truly is something for everyone.
Running from Wednesday 13 February to Tuesday 26 February, the festival is also a great chance for people to get to know what clubs and activities are on offer throughout the Cessnock Local Government area all year round.
It provides an opportunity for people to try out different community organisations and activities, as well as meeting like-minded people.
This year, Cessnock’s younger seniors, aged between 55 and 70, are encouraged to come along and enjoy the program. Some of the highlights this year include a free concert at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre with celebrated Australian storyteller, actor, singer and artist Warren Fahey, a special sing-a-long screening of the hit ABBA-inspired film Mamma Mia (also at CPAC), and the combined choirs Sing-sational concert.
Cessnock Mayor, Bob Pynsent said he was proud of the festival and what it offers residents.
“Each year Council and the Cessnock Seniors Advisory Committee work hard to offer the community opportunities to try something new, meet new people and have some fun.”
“Over the past few years the festival has really grown and twice been recognised for its achievement in community involvement, winning the Local Government NSW RH Dougherty Award for Innovation in Special Events in both 2017 and 2018.”
