Developed specifically for this year’s festivities, Sing-Sational is a new initiative that will see four choirs from the Hunter Region combine in a day of joyful singing.
The concert will feature up to 60 singers on stage with a program that will boast 24 all-time favourite songs that have been specially chosen to delight all – especially seniors.
The choristers are being drawn from four well-established choirs from around the Hunter region, namely the Cessnock Seniors Choir, the Maitland City Choir, Sing Australia - Maitland and the Walka Grange Choir.
The opening and closing brackets of the program will be presented with all participants on stage at one which is certainly a feat in itself.
The individual choirs will also present their own selections during the show.
With a choir performance of this scale never before attempted at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre, organisers are confident of a full house.
Coordinator Michael Griggs said a great deal of effort had gone into staging the show, including programming the songs, organising practice sessions and figuring out just how to fit 60 choristers on a stage.
The Cessnock Seniors Chior will be looking to back up with another fine show after their well-received Christmas concert in December.
Best of all, it’s free and, following the performance, there will be light refreshments provided in the foyer.
Sing-Sational will be on at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday 19 February from 10.30am-11.30am.
