Cessnock Council has run a free tree giveaway for two decades, benefiting residents and the natural environment.
Cessnock Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent encouraged all entitled residents to submit an application.
“This program is always very popular. It’s certainly an important one for council, the planting of more trees and shrubs is vital in our community, they look great but also have long lasting environmental impacts.”
A range of trees and shrubs are available, from ground covers like Gardenia radicans through to shrubs, including, Bottlebrush, Westringia and Nandina.
Application forms are available from Council’s Customer Service Centre or online at www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/environment/initiatives.
Completed application forms must be received no later than 5pm on Friday, February 22.
For further information contact Council’s vegetation and civic spaces coordinator, Lyall Green, on 02 4993 4103.
