The Pokolbin Reds collected their first silverware of 2019 when they retained the "Langers Cup" in a rain sodden 45-0 win against the Griffins at Empire Park.

The game started out pretty even with both teams spending equal time in each other halves but around the 15 minute mark the Griffins started to tire and the Reds crossed over for their first try to Aaron Webb.
Moments before the whistle for the first half Jack Kirkham also crossed the line to give Pokolbin a 10-0 half time..
In the second half with the wind at their backs and the downhill run the Reds lifted the pace and proceeded to control the game and put on five tries thanks too Dylan Dower, Dan Thomas, Brenton Bailey and Lee Sparks with three conversions too Stu Garrett and two to Alex Thrift.
Final score 45-0 and the Reds retained the Langer Cup for the second year.
Coaches Points went to Darryl Green 3 points, Jack Kirkham 2 points and Dylan Dower 1 point.
Next weekend the Reds play Easts-Rugby Club at Dangar Park.
The Cessnock Mongrels game against Merewether Carlton was washed out.
The Mongrels have a huge home game against Singleton Army this Sunday. Kick off is at 3pm.
