More than 300 runners donned head lamps and watched the sun come down at the first ever Hunter Valley Winery Run Moon Marathon on Saturday night.

The annual Hunter Valley Winery Running Festival at The Vintage Golf Resort and Spa included the evening event this year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of man landing on the moon.
The participants included those conquering the 42 kilometres alone and some taking part in two and four person teams.
Event director Paul Humpheys of H Events said it was a "great night".
"The moon came up a bit later than we thought so it was a bit dark early, but otherwise a great atmosphere with our great lighting," he said.
"We had an unreal three-metre high moon we hired, it was the perfect prop.
"Running an event at night was always going to be a worry. But the logistics were really good.
"Everyone was raving about the event and venue.
"We may be onto a winner with that event.
"It won't be the 50th anniversary anymore but we will run it again next year."
The marathon preceded the other events held on the Sunday - the half marathon, 10 kilometre, six kilometre and two kilometre runs.
Mr Humphreys said there were about 700 runners and "perfect weather" on the Sunday.
"It was a great response," he said. "We had a really good weekend."
