"Our mission is to provide the highest standard of patient care whilst incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness," said practice manager Char MacDonald.
Abermain Surgery has been open for more than 35 years and it now has an Allied Health team on site at the surgery.
Dr Ismay is the lead practitioner who has worked for 35 years in the surgery as a solo GP until 12 months ago. He enjoys all aspects of family medicine, workers compensation and aged care. He is available Monday to Thursday.
Dr Manar Al-Azzawi joined the surgery 12 months ago as the first female doctor. She enjoys all aspects of chronic disease prevention and management, family medicine including women's health, contraception counselling including IUD insertions, mental health, skin checks and children's health.
She has completed a Diploma in Child Health to add to her vast experience in paediatrics and primary healthcare. She is available Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings.
Dr Saif Alkadhi is an emergency physician at the local emergency departments when he is not at the surgery.
He enjoys all aspects of general practice including chronic disease prevention and management, family medicine including men's health, emergency medicine, mental health, skin checks and removals of skin cancers, aged care and children's health.
He has also completed a Diploma in Child Health and will be providing cosmetic medicine soon.
Dr Al-Azzawi and Dr Alkadhi have both previously worked in the Cessnock community as part of their fellowship training. They are dedicated to the community and are permanently at Abermain Surgery and welcome new patients and their families.
"Our Health Team onsite includes Laverty Pathology, Cessnock Podiatry, Feast for Health Dietitian, Insight Exercise Physiologist, Newcastle Integrated Physiotherapist and Central Hunter Sports Medicine," said Ms MacDonald.
