Well now is the time to recognise them as nominations for the Cessnock Hall of Fame are now open.
The hall of fame celebrates local individuals and families who have a strong association with the local government area and have attained noteworthy distinction in their field of endeavour.
Inductees are honoured for achievements and contributions in six categories: Arts, Sport, Public Service, Science, Business and Meritorious Families.
Previous inductees include Arthur Francis CSC, OAM for his commendable military achievements and Uncle Les Elvin for his distinguished efforts in the education and art in the Aboriginal community of Cessnock.
Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent said this was an opportunity to recognise exceptional individuals in the community.
"I encourage everyone to take a stroll around our Hall of Fame at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre and learn about those who have been inducted. We are truly home to some special and talented people."
