Lap swimmers only will be able to access the pool from Monday, September 16 from 6am to 1pm, and the community will be able to buy their season passes during these hours, before the official outdoor pool season kicks off on Saturday, September 28.
Pool users are reminded that season passes need to be purchased from their local pool this year, not online or at council's administration building.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent welcomed the news about our pools opening early for lap swimmers and is encouraging locals to get in early and make a splash.
"Our pools are fantastic community facilities and as the weather warms up, I look forward to seeing them utilised by locals, young and old," he said.
From September 28, opening hours will return to normal - Monday to Friday 6am to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday 7am to 6pm.
The Royal Life Saving NSW Keep Watch Program will continue at Cessnock's local pools this season. The program educates parents and carers on how to keep their children safe when in, on or around the water.
For the 2019/20 outdoor pool season, council has also introduced pensioner fees for all season passes and single entries.
A full list of fees can be found on the council website.
