Children are invited to put on their comfiest PJs and grab their teddy bear or favourite stuffed toy for an hour of stories, craft and a bedtime snack. The fun kicks off at 6pm.
If they're feeling brave, kids can leave their teddy bear for an overnight sleepover at the library and collect them the following morning.
Kids will be able to see what adventures their teddy got up to overnight by looking at the library's Facebook page.
Library services coordinator, Rose-marie Walters encourages everyone to pick up a book for Reading Hour this Thursday.
"In children, reading has been shown to help with identity formation, setting them up for success in the future," Ms Walters said.
"In adults, reading has been shown to reduce stress by 68 percent more than listening to music, going for a walk, or having a cup of tea."
Reading Hour twilight storytime will run from 6pm to 6.45pm Thursday at Cessnock Library.
It's a free event, and refreshments are provided, so bookings are essential.
