Cessnock City Council is calling on local businesses to take part in a brainstorming workshop to discuss how Cessnock's biodiversity can be used to market the area and broaden activities available to visitors.

The workshop will take place at the Pokolbin Community Hall on Tuesday, November 19 from 5.30pm to 7pm.
This facilitated workshop will provide an opportunity for businesses to discuss how Cessnock's unique biodiversity could be used to increase visitation to the region as well as share ideas on how nature-based activities could value-add to the attractions that already exist.
Cessnock City Council's sustainability officer Karinda Stone is encouraging local businesses to come along and join the conversation.
"Cessnock's local biodiversity is significant and unique due to our temperate climate, significant forested areas and the fact that we're on a migration path for many Australian and overseas birds," Ms Stone said.
"For these reasons, we have an opportunity to position ourselves in the nature-based tourist market and this workshop will allow us to brainstorm ideas with the local business community."
