Scottish new-wave royalty Simple Minds announced last Friday that they will be returning to Bimbadgen Estate on December 5, 2020, and on Monday it was revealed legendary singer-songwriter Sir Rod Stewart will be performing at Roche Estate on October 24 next year.

The last time Simple Minds played Bimbadgen in February 2017 there were genuine fears the show would be cancelled.

Temperatures reached heatwave levels of 45 degrees and the whole Hunter Valley was declared a high-fire danger zone.

Thankfully, Simple Minds played and triumphed, despite the heat. And in 2020 frontman Jim Kerr, guitarist Charlie Burchill and co are returning to Australia to celebrate their 40-year anniversary with another A Day On The Green tour, plus two indoor shows.

Joining Simple Minds will be English synth-pop pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark for their first Australian tour since 1987 and '80s pop band Eurogliders.

Simple Minds' 40-year history is littered with some incredible highs. A US No.1 single in Don't You (Forget About Me) in 1985, a Wembley Stadium concert to mark Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday in 1988, seven top-five UK albums - including the undeniable classics Sparkle In The Rain (1983) and Once Upon A Time (1985) - and sales of 60 million records worldwide.

Meanwhile, Sir Rod Stewart is this year celebrating 50 years as a solo artist.

Stewart has earned countless of the industry's highest awards, among them, two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 2016 he officially became Sir Rod Stewart after being knighted at Buckingham Palace for his services to music and charity. He has performed for millions of fans on six continents, even holding the record for the largest-ever free concert, for an estimated 4.2 million in Rio de Janeiro on New Year's Eve in 1996.
