A possible thunderstorm is predicted on Monday afternoon, which could bring 10-20mm of rain.
Possible showers are forecast for the rest of the week, with falls of up to 10mm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, easing on Friday and Saturday, and returning on Sunday.
Warmer days are set to return, with maximum temperatures ranging from 28 to 31 degrees.
We're just six weeks into the new year, and the Cessnock Airport weather station has already received almost half of the annual rainfall total for 2019 - which, with 384.4mm was the driest on record.
A total of 191mm has fallen this year, including 141.6mm in the four days up to 9am Monday.
After Sunday's downpour, we put the call out to our Facebook followers to send us their weather shots (check out the gallery above).
