As the excitement of last weekend's Mulletfest dies down, Kurri Kurri is gearing up for another fantastic community event, with its annual Nostalgia Festival just over three weeks away.
The festival will take place from March 27 to 29, when Kurri Kurri will transform into a retro paradise, with classic cars, '50s-inspired fashion and rock 'n' roll music for all to enjoy.
Now in its 17th year, the festival draws crowds of up to 30,000 people to town, including visitors from every state and overseas.
Towns With Heart community projects manager Lesley Morris said this year's festival shows signs of being one of the best yet, with markets stall sites sold out, strong numbers of registrations for the show and shine and some fantastic rock 'n' roll entertainment lined up.
"Cars and other vehicles pre-1978 are eligible to enter the show and shine, which is so popular as the cars are always spectacular," she said.
"In recent years we have seen an increase in the number of vintage caravans and other vehicles as well.
"The retro marketplace brings together the best vintage, retro and nostalgia-themed stalls from across the country.
"It is certainly unique, with all manner of merchandise, goods and collectibles and it's well worth a wander through."
The festival will once again kick off with a high tea and retro fashion parade at Kurri Kurri High School on the Friday afternoon.
A family fun night will be held in Rotary Park on the Friday night, with entertainment by Jumpin' Jukebox.
The festival centres around Rotary Park throughout Saturday and Sunday, with a show 'n' shine, market stalls,best-dressed competitions and live music from 8.30am to 4pm each day.
New additions to this year's program include the Pin-Up Doll Australia All-Stars competition and a vintage hula hoop demonstration.
The Rock 'n' Roll Express steam train ride will run to Richmond Vale Railway on the Friday and Saturday night.
The Saturday night dinner dance will be held at the newly-renovated Kurri Kurri Ambulance Hall, with entertainment by the Mr James Band and DJ Vinnie.
Weston Workers Club will host the Burlesque Idol Australia grand finale on the Friday night; followed by the Louis King, DJ Gav and Sydney Swing Katz on the Saturday night, and the Last Chance Dance with Jumpin' Jukebox on the Sunday night.
