As part of Local Government Week and History Month 2020, Cessnock City Library is launching the 'Seen@Cessnock' photo competition on Monday, August 3.
Residents are invited to snap a great photo of the changing face of Cessnock: perhaps a historical building, bridge, streetscape or site within the Cessnock local government area that is not always seen.
Acting library services coordinator, Andrew Powell said the photo competition will also help to capture history for future generations.
"Cessnock Library hopes to preserve some of the images and make them publicly available as part of our Local History Photo Collection on the library web page and include some of the images in a future exhibition," Mr Powell said.
"We are looking for the unusual, the unknown and the unexpected."
Entries close on September 30. There is a first prize of $150 in both the adult and junior categories.
