The Kearsley Crushers have claimed the club's first premiership running out 18-12 winners over the Kotara Bears in the Newcastle and Hunter Community Rugby League D-grade grand final at St John Oval, Charlestown on Saturday.

In wet conditions both sides ran in three tries with Jared McGregor's kicking proving the difference. McGregor landed three goals from three attempts while the Bears kickers were none from three.
Kearsely led 12-4 at half-time, however, the Bears struck back with two unconverted tries to level the scores at 12-all at the 64 minute mark.
The Crushers were not to be denied and with two minutes to go they crossed for a four-pointed and McGregor converted for an 18-12 victory.
A large contingent of Kearsley fans went down the for the match.
