Next month, Valley Artists will be taking to the stage with the award winning spy noir thriller, the 39 Steps, in Laguna next month.
Let your imagination run wild with an evening that combines a sense of adventure, love and comedy.
Four local and experienced actors, Craig Howe, Alan Glover, Bob Philippe and Siobhan Dillon will play 139 different roles in this comic play, directed by Rosie Glover in her directional debut.
Louise Hicks, a producer for Valley Artists Inc, said "there are lots of costume changes and about 45 acts with the scenery changing each time, the actors do that themselves".
"It's quite fascinating watching them pull all that together," she said.
There is limited capacity at Laguna Hall, which is owned by Cessnock Council.
The hall can only cater to 78 patrons and they have already sold the opening night and two Saturday shows, with the Sunday matinee filling fast.
"Everyone's dying to get out and do something," Ms Hicks said.
"Which is funny because the very first act is the hero (Craig Howe) of the play saying, 'I'm bored, I need to get out and go to the theatre'."
With the recent easing of restrictions, the venue was able to cater to the higher number of patrons.
Prior to this they may have only been allowed an audience of approximately 40 to ensure safe social distancing.
Due to reception issues, the venue is unable to cater for QR code sign in, so patrons will need to have their contact details recorded manually.
"We have had people ask if they could have a seat for opening night and in ordinary times, we could have squeezed a couple of seats in, but the capacity is the capacity and that's that," Ms Hicks said.
"We can get closed down for not following protocol.
"With COVID we have had to be careful through rehearsals that people don't share even a cup when they're making their tea and coffee."
The play, written by Patrick Barlow adapted from the novel by John Buchan will be showing at Laguna Hall in the Lower Hunter from June 4 to 12 in its first post-COVID 19 production.
This year also marks 24 years for Valley Artists in the Wollombi Valley with 45 performances under its belt.
Ms Hicks encouraged people to buy their tickets early so they don't miss out.
"Come along but get in quick, or there won't be any seats left," she said .
Tickets are on sale and cost $30 for adults and $25 for concession and are available online at valleyartists.org/shop or via Facebook @valleyartistsinc.
