The Mission Hall was established in May 1921, only 18 years after the start of the Abermain township itself.
Leadership team member Brian Procter said the idea for the church was formed after the local Baptist Church burnt down in 1919, and was a tribute to the township's British heritage.
"(The fire) resulted in some of the folk beginning a 'cottage meeting' in a local home in Harle Street," he said.
"Eventually the Baptist Church was rebuilt, however the group now felt that they should start a Mission Hall based on those that were popular in the Old Country of England and Wales.
"Many of the early settlers in Abermain were of English, Welsh and Scottish backgrounds as they had migrated to Australia to work in the local coal mines that dotted the landscape of the area."
Mr Procter said the area experienced a "spiritual awakening" a few year later, as evangelists from the Open Air Campaigners would conduct open air meetings for the miners as they made their way home from their work underground at the surrounding collieries.
"One popular spot for this was on the corner near the Old School of Arts. Historical accounts record over 1500 people gathering on one occasion for such a meeting to listen intently as the Christian Gospel was boldly proclaimed," Mr Procter said.
"From these meetings many were powerfully saved and several local families would go on to take leading roles in the life of the young fledgling Mission Hall. That life has continued on now for a century."
Nowadays the church plays a significant role in the community through its Sunday School, Kids Club, Youth Group and its joint Carols by Candlelight events with Abermain Public School.
"Generations of local people will have precious memories of their involvement with the Abermain Mission Hall down through the years," Mr Procter said, adding that anyone who has had an association with the church is warmly invited to attend this week's events.
The events include an evening of yarning and reminiscing at the church on Friday night at 7pm; a dinner on Saturday night at 6pm (RSVP by Friday), and its centenary worship service on Sunday at 10am, with Neil Clark from Open Air Campaigners as the guest speaker.
