Bellbird Health Medical Centre opened at 384 Wollombi Road, Bellbird on January 11, as part of a new complex located next to the Bellbird Hotel.
The purpose-built clinic provides bulk-billed GP consultations.
Dr Mary Turner is the clinic's temporary GP, and a permanent doctor has been lined up to start in the near future.
The clinic is staffed by locals, including medical receptionists Stacy Harris and Sandy Lane and registered nurse Jessica Higham, who has just moved back to the Cessnock area after seven years in Adelaide.
Business manager Peter Treacy said the clinic has been really pleased with the response from the local community.
"As well as appointments, we've already had over 400 people registering with the practice in just over two weeks," he said.
"We'd encourage other families and individuals to contact us and make sure you're on our books."
Bellbird Health Medical Centre is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Appointments can be made on 4249 2450, and take priority, but walk-ins are welcome.
A florist is due to open in the complex next week, while the other two units remain vacant but have attracted a lot of interest.
Bellbird is forecast to become a hotspot for population growth, with the Bellbird North urban release area earmarked for approximately 3500 lots and about 10,000 residents over a 15-to-20-year timeframe.
