Tickets at $80 per person have been going fast to the evening at the Cessnock Leagues Club and there were fewer than 50 left at the start of the week.
Born and bred in Cessnock, Johns and his brother Matthew played their junior footy with the Goannas before joining the Knights and becoming part of Hunter footy folk-lore.
The pair played in the Knights first premiership team in 1997 and Andrew went on to play in the 2001 premiership team.
A three-time Dally M Award winner, Johns captained both NSW and Australia playing 23 games for the Blues in State of Origin and 26 for the Kanagroos.
On retirement from playing Johns was named rugby league's eighth Immortal.
