A FUGITIVE has been captured and refused bail after allegedly dumping a bag with police uniforms, badges and handcuffs at a Newcastle train station.

Trent Gary Jennings was arrested in Brisbane on Thursday, nearly two weeks after NSW Police launched a manhunt for the 38-year-old.
Officers made a disturbing discovering in Newcastle during the search, allegedly uncovering a bag stuffed with uniforms and badges from NSW Police, Australian Federal Police (AFP) and NSW Ambulance at Hamilton train station.
Handcuffs, boots, gloves, a radio, electronics and prescription medication were also allegedly found in the haul and seized for forensic testing.
Jennings had last been seen at a motel at The Entrance just before 10pm on January 17 and was reported missing.
The manhunt was referred to Strike Force Cobra, the specialist squad targeting high-risk wanted criminals.
Strike force detectives, backed by Queensland police, homed in on Jennings and arrested him in South Brisbane on February 1.
Detectives successfully applied for him to be extradited to NSW and he arrived at Sydney airport on Monday under heavy police guard.
He was charged with possessing or using a prohibited weapon, failing to comply with reporting obligations, and seven counts relating to the use of police uniforms or AFP items.
He fronted Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday for the first time, where he was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on March 19.
He made no application for bail and it was formally refused.
Jennings has made headlines for stabbing and killing a man he met for casual sex in 2003, and again for absconding from Morisset hospital near Newcastle six years later.
